The Oberois are in for trouble. A metropolitan magistrate court on July 28 issued a non-bailable warrant against Vivek Oberoi and his father Suresh Oberoi over Rs.3 crore cheque bounce case.

Jawaharlal Agicha has filed a complaint against Vivek and his father Suresh. The complaint also accused four members from board of directors and a manager from Oberoi Mutimedia Ltd in the case. According to his complain, people from Oberoi Mutimedia Ltd including its MD Anand Oberoi and its manager Anil Lalwani, requested him to provide financial assistance for the company's brand promotion in India and abroad.

Agicha said that he was given a proposal of issuing Bill of Exchange and post-dated cheques as repayment of the Rs 3.9-crore loan and received Rs.50,000 in January last year. However, a Union Bank of India cheque of Rs.3 crore bounced. His lawyer said that the cheque was dishonoured by New India Co-op Bank, Versova, with the remark account closed.

It may be recalled that the accused didn't not turn up for the three hearing of the case since December last year. Following continuous absence, the court has finally issued non-bailable warrant against the accused.
