Dear Friend Hitler is a multi-lingual film based on the letters written by Mahatma Gandhi to Adolf Hitler. In the letters Gandhi addresses the Nazi dictator as ''Dear Friend''. Nalin Singh told to PTI, “The film shows the clash of two historical personalities - Mahatma Gandhi and Adolf Hitler...How these two leaders followed their respective ideologies to solve issues of their countries. Hitler used violence, while Gandhiji believed in non-violence. The film depicts difference between the ideologies of Gandhi and Hitler and establishes the superiority of Gandhism over Nazism."
He also informed that Dear Friend Hitler has three tracks in total- Hitler, Gandhi and connecting them the Azad Hind Fauj. The film was directed by debutant Rakesh Ranjan Kumar and produced by Anil Sharma. Dear Friend Hitler stars Raghuvir Yadav as Adolf Hitler and Neha Dhupia as his lover Eva Braun.
Singh adds, "Also, other countries must learn from India how non-violence can resolve a problem without blood shed. Its a clash between non-violence and violence. Non-violence, if used properly, is the most deadliest weapon and the best part is that not much blood is shed. It is upon the politicians how they want to project themselves- by using violence which is Hitlerian or by using non-violence that is Gandhian."
The film Dear Friend Hitler is all set to premier at the Cannes Film Festival on May 11. The film has already gathered a lot of appreciation while its screening at the Berlin Film Festival, recently.
