Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan was overwhelmed to receive honorary doctorate from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia. The Bollywood actor is happy that his contribution to Indian cinema is helpful in bridging the gap between Australian and Indian professionals.
Amitabh Bachchan spoke to PTI after receiving his honourary doctorate from the Queensland University of Technology, Australia and he shared his excitement about the recognition. He said, "I'm truly overwhelmed and immensely pleased to be the recipient of such a distinction."
Big B added, "The recognition of my contribution to Indian cinema and its effort to reach out to an international community fills me with intense pride and humility - pride for being able to be a link between Australian and Indian professionals of the film and creative industries and humility for a chance to be the medium in doing so. May this help strengthen the existing bonds between our two countries."
However, this is the fourth doctorate that Amitabh Bachchan is receiving. Earlier, De Montfort Univ, Leicester UK, Jhansi University and the Delhi University honoured Big B with this degree. It should be recalled here that two years ago, the actor had rejected the honorary doctorate from QUT as a mark of protest against racial attacks on Indian students.
