Ajay apologises to Kannadigas
Actor Ajay Devgn along with Kannadiga actor Prakash Raj, director Rohit Shetty have apologised to the people of Karnataka for the offensive statements on Kannadigas made in their film Singham.

In the movie actor Prakash Raj, who plays a politician tells a dialogue, “Ek phone par mein hazaron logon ko Karnataka border se lakar khada kar dunga (With one call, I can get hundreds of people from the Karnataka border)." In response, Ajay"s character Bajirao Singham, a Maharashtrian cop says, “Tum jaise kutton ke liye, mein hi kafi hoon, Maharashtra se hazaro log ki zaroorat nahin" (For dogs like you, I alone am enough, I don"t need thousands of people from Maharashtra).

Pro-Kannada organisations held protests against the screening of Singham demanding the deletion of the dialogue from the film, as it has hurt the emotions of Kannadigas. The matter was followed up by the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC). They supported the protestors and demanded an apology from producers Reliance Big Entertainment. They wanted the scenes to be removed that portrayed Kannadigas in poor light from all movie prints across the country.

However Prakash defends the movie saying that he played the role of a Marathi politician Jaikar Shikre. Saying that the protestors had misunderstood his dialogues, Prakash said that they are sensible people and did not intend to hurt anybodies intentions.

In a press statement, KFCC had even complained to the Censor Board for ignoring dialogues that hurt the sentiments of the people of Karnataka. This sudden outrage in down South prompted the producer to issue a press release saying, “We apologise for any dialogue or scene in the movie Singham, which may have unwittingly upset or hurt the sentiments of the people."
