Aarakshan mirrors malpractices in education system

While talking about his upcoming film Aarakshan, filmmaker Prakash Jha told that the film mirrors the wrong practices which have crept into the education system of the country in last two decades, especially in the backdrop of crass commercialisation of the sector. "People who have got the benefits of reservation and those who haven't feel pained equally today since a system framed with a view to bring forward the backward segment of society has gone array," Jha told reporters, while promoting Aarakshan in Gujarat.

"Because of reservation what happened is that seats of the progressive community got curtailed, in turn the competition shot up, which gave a big push to crass commercialisation of education in the country," explained Jha.

"So I don't understand where our education system is taking us," reasons Prakash. Education has become the biggest business in the country, it is like a paid service without guarantee. Despite all the policy guidelines from government in place at time it appears that there is no direction, Jha told.

"My film Aarakshan is an attempt to highlight where the education system of nation is heading towards," he said. I keep observing the trends in society and try to understand them. When I deem fit that it is a good enough a issue I produce a film on it, Jha said adding everything cannot be left in private hands. The film features Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles.
