Preity Zinta not selling Kings XI Punjab

A section of the media reported that Kings XI Punjab, one of the eight franchisees of the Indian Premier League (IPL) T20 cricket tournament, has been sold to the Hero Honda group but it has turned out to be baseless rumour.

Reaction to the false reports, actress Preity Zinta, the co-owner of the team, clarified that Kings XI Punjab has not been sold. "Hi everyone! Just want to clarify that we have not sold the team to Hero Honda! Another example of how the media can get it all wrong," Preity posted on her Twitter page yesterday.

A spokesperson from the Hero Honda Group said that the reports were baseless, as the group has neither acquired Kings XI nor in talks for acquisition. Anil Srivatsa, the chief executive of the franchisee, also clarified that they have not sold Kings XI Punjab to anyone.

Kings XI Punjab is co-owned by Preity Zinta, Ness Wadia, Karan Paul Mohit and Gaurav Burman. It is led by Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara with Tom Moody as the coach. The third edition of the IPL begins on March 12.
