IPL makes Right Yaa Wrong crawl

Right Yaa Wrong
Despite Bollywood taking IPL heads on, it lost the battle at least on the opening Friday. No, a film like Right Yaaa Wrong wasn't expected to take a bumper response at the box office even if it would have arrived solo without any cricket matches being played anywhere in the world. Still, since the film turned out to be surprisingly quite well made, some flattering reviews coupled with very good word of mouth would have ensured that this Sunny Deol-Irrfan Khan starrer gets some eyeballs with every passing day. However, that was unfortunately not the case to be as the Friday opening was extremely poor. With mere 10%-20% opening response and only (relatively) better response in the remainder of the weekend, Right Yaa Wrong would now have to make an impression on the home video front.

Same holds good for Hide & Seek which could have turned out to be a coverage affair if not for such strong competition from IPL. However, the situation was even worse for this film as there were talks of shows being cancelled on the very opening day due to lack of audience. A good first effort by director Shawn Arranha, Hide N Seek was made for young audience but a pathetic box office opening means that even survival till the end of first week would be quite a challenge for this slasher thriller.

The other four releases met with even worse fate as Na Ghar Ke Na Ghat Ke saw some audiences coming its way only in the interiors. However, a title which hardly enticed the urban audiences coupled with a star cast that was largely unknown, this low budget film saw itself being lost in oblivion. However, it may end up recovering money through home video and satellite revenue due to its low budget.

As for Swaha and Trump Card, they were C grade affairs and expectedly failed to make any noise whatsoever. In fact if not for the massive rush of releases that brought to fore the topic of numerous films willing to take on IPL, Swaha and Trump Card wouldn't have been noticed at all. As for 'Do Dilon Ke Khel Mein', there wasn't even a proper release due to which one continues to wonder if the film has come and gone or has actually been postponed for a further date? Another common factor amongst each of these three releases was that no reputed website/publication/newspaper even bothered to review them at all!
