Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan and Vidya Balan bagged the best actor and best actress awards respectively at the 55th Filmfare Awards ceremony on Saturday night. Both the actors were chosen for the top honours for their wonderful performances in their film Paa where they played mother and son.

Aamir Khan's film 3 Idiots was declared the best film while Rajkumar Hirani claimed the best director award for the same movie.

A.R. Rahman won the best music director award for the film Delhi 6 and Mohit Chauhan won the award for the best male playback singer for the song “Masakali" from the same movie.

Kavita Seth and Rekha Bhardwaj shared the female playback singer honours. Kavita was awarded for the song “Ik tara" from the movie Wake Up Sid while Rekha won the trophy for the song "Genda phool" from the movie Delhi 6.

Shahrukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan, who hosted the star-studded event, once again brought down the house with their funny one-liners. Shahid Kapoor paid tribute to the legendary pop singer Michael Jackson with a terrific dance performance.

Sorry Mr. Chandra, but I agree with Mr. Murli. Besides, isn't Shahrukh Khan supposed to be a god too? And Rajesh Khanna before that. But anyway, in a country where there are many gods and goddesses...lets just add a couple of more. But coming back to the issue of awards, so ok, Mr. Bachchan is a good actor. But he has had his fair share of fame and acclaime. Now he should graciously bow down from accepting awards and let the younger generation slowly get their dues too. Unfortunately we are so infatuated by the star system that we simply can't see beyond the Bachchans and the Khans...Ranbir Kapoor has done a fantastic job in his films and credit should have been given to him. This is just one example, Shahid Kapoor being the other.

THE FILM FARE IS BAISED WHAT WAS SO GREAT ABOOT BIG B'S ACTING IN PAA THAT HE DESERVES THE BEST ACTOR'S AWARD? THE AWARD SHOULD HAVE GONE TO SHAHID KAPOOR, AAMIR IS RIGHT WHEN HE SAYS THE REASON HE DOES NOT ATTEND THESE AWARD FUNCTIONS IS BECAUSE THEY ARE BIASED AND FULL OF FAVOURITISM AND MANY AGREE WITH HIM.
