The actor is in Hamburg, Germany with wife Twinkle for a two-day course in water therapy at a wellness centre there. On Tuesday night, Akshay Kumar and his wife Twinkle left for Germany to attend a course in hydrotherapy at a wellness center in Hamburg, a city that boasts of the best spas in water therapy.
Says a source close to the actor, "They've gone to Hamburg for a two-day hydrotherapy water treatment course. They decided to enroll after they read about how beneficial hydrotherapy is, as it doesn't put any strain on the bones. Akshay loves water -- he calls himself a hydro baby and whenever he's in Mumbai, Aarav and he spend time swimming at the 5-star hotel pool near his house."
According to the source, "Akshay knows a bit about hydrotherapy but he wanted to increase his knowledge and take a proper course. Twinkle will undergo the training with him. The two-day course involves being in the pool for a couple of hours and learning various exercises. Akshay wants to learn exercises that are helpful for the spine, shoulders, back, knee, ankles and other joints and bones. It's one of the best form of natural exercises."
Before leaving on Tuesday night Akshay confirmed, "Hydrotherapy is amazing treatment for many injuries and especially the back and spine. You are put in an environment where the body is weightless and impact-free so you can rehabilitate your muscles without further stress or injury to the specific joint or muscle. The biggest sporting personalities go through rehab this way. I am intending to come back from Germany with a bigger bounce in my step than usual."
