Bollywood actress Twinkle Khanna was arrested by the Vakola police in Mumbai in connection with the obscenity row during the Lakme Fashion Week. She was taken to the police station and questioned on her unbuttoning act with hubby Akshay Kumar who was promoting Levis 'Unbuttoned' jeans while walking the ramp for noted designer Tarun Tahiliani.
Twinkle was accompanied by her lawyer Bhairav Choudhary to the police station. She was later granted bail after she paid the bail amount of of Rs 950. Akshay was out of town when the incident took place but Assistant Commissioner of Police, Arvind Mahabdi said that Akshay will report to the police on his return to Mumbai. He also added that the case was 'very weak' and stands little chance in court.
Incidentally a model was supposed to unbutton Akshay's jeans but the actor insisted that his wife does the act. Little did Akki know that his act would snowball into a major controversy and make the couple do rounds of the police station. A social activist by the name of Anil Nair had lodged a complaint against the couple, designer Tarun Tahiliani and the organisers of the show.
