Preity Zinta vows to fight against child trafficking

Preity Zinta, Ajay Devgn, Shabana Azmi, Katrina Kaif, Javed Akthar, Sunil Shetty and wife Mana have pledged their support to Against Child Trafficking (ACT). They have promised to raise funds to rehabilitate the victims forced into trafficking.

Sanjay Dutt, who is currently in Cape Town, South Africa, to attend an event, says, "Human trafficking is a serious concern. When Firoz Nadiadwala asked me to support the cause I immediately agreed. Being a part of the film industry, it's our duty to help any way we can.

One of the plans we are discussing is to have a short clipping before all our movies which will create awareness for human trafficking. Also we are planning to get together to raise money through shows and events."

Suniel Shetty says, "It's a huge problem today with the girl child being kidnapped and sold for prostitution. But it's not enough to rescue them. We need to rehabilitate them as their parents refuse to accept them because of the social stigma. It's important to give them vocational training and make them self-confident."

Ajay Devgn adds, "Trafficking of human beings, is one of the fastest growing problems. India being no exception. We should all make an effort to eradicate human trafficking in our own ways." Katrina Kaif maintains, "Firoz Nadiadwala asked me to get involved and I think it's a great cause. Trafficking of the girl child is a serious cause for concern in today's times."

"My parents did not sell me and I was given an equal opportunity. I want to give a message to those people who live in villages, that if anyone approaches you and asks you to sell your child to them, telling you that they will provide them employment, please don't sell your child, because she is only going to be forced into either flesh trade or be forced to work as domestic help in somebody's house.

Human trafficking is the selling of human beings. And I pledge to raise my voice against human trafficking. Join me in the crusade! Today, child trafficking has become a social evil around the world. It's time we took a stand and protected our future, because our children are our future."
