madhur bhandarkar felicitated at Cairo Film Fest

madhur bhandarkar has returned to Mumbai after a week long trip to Cairo. He was in the city for the 33rd Cairo International Film Festival where he was felicitated for his contribution to cinema. Also, five of his films, namely Chandni Bar, Page 3, Corporate, Traffic Signal and Fashion, were showcased under the section 'Tribute to Indian Cinema.'

"It was a great trip since it reaffirmed that Indian films do get some very good recognition abroad if presented in the right film festivals. They chose five of my recent films to be showcased and response was quite good", says Madhur whose Jail has released a fortnight back.

While other invitees were aware about his films like Chandni Bar, Page 3 and Fashion, the films that caught many of them by surprise were Traffic Signal and Corporate.

"These films were poles apart and the narrative style was entirely different too", says Madhur, "They were quite surprised that the setting of both these films was quite different as Traffic Signal was mostly shot outdoors while Corporate had a board room setting to it. Earlier this year, Madhur had also travelled to Moscow International Film Festival for a similar retrospective. However, in Cairo he wasn't alone as he also had Irrfan Khan for company.

The actor, who was last seen in masala thriller Acid Factory, and is a global name courtesy The Namesake, Slumdog Millionaire and other films from the West, was also felicitated for his contribution to cinema.
