Kambakkht Ishq a remake of Kamal Hassan film

Akshay Kumar"s next release Kambakkht Ishq is a remake of Tamil film Pammal K. Sambandam (2002) starring Kamal Hassan titled. The Tamil film was a big hit down South.

In that film, Kamal Hassan had played the title role and it also starred Simran, Abbas and Sneha. Their roles have been substituted with Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Aftab Shivdasani and Sneha respectively. It was directed by Mouli.

In the Tamil original, Kamal enacted the role of a film stuntman while Simran was a doctor in the making. In the Hindi version, Akshay Kumar is a renowned stunt artiste while Kareena Kapoor plays a super model and a doctor. Pammal K. Sambandam is been remade in Hindi by Anees Bazmee for South producer GV Films which had acquired the remake rights for Rs.5 lakh.

However, Sajid paid Rs.75 lakh for the same remake rights. Reportedly, Sajid Nadiadwala has spared neither efforts nor money in remaking the South hit. All though it is directed by a new name (Saabir Khan), it is said to have cost over Rs.60 crore. Incidentally, the film"s release has been postponed, thanks to the face-off between multiplexes and producers/distributors. Instead of 29th May, it may now be released in August or July.
 

Sajid's connection with Sonia Gandhi

When Sajid Nadiadwala selected Vicenza for the shooting of his next production Kambakht Ishq, he had no idea it was so close to Congress president Sonia Gandhi's birthplace. Speaking from Italy, Sajid says, "Director Sabir Khan and I saw the place on the Internet and decided to shoot there as it was completely different from Los Angeles, where we earlier shot the film. LA is a concrete jungle while Vicenza is an ancient town full of beautiful villas. We loved.....
