Golden Globe Award to have Bollywood category?
[an error occurred while processing this directive]Nevada (ANI): Prestigious Golden Globes asked to have "Best Bollywood Film" category Indo-Americans have asked Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) to introduce a new award category in golmaal starting 2011 of "Best Bollywood Film" for films made in India.

Acclaimed Indo-American statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that India had the largest film industry in the world and thus it deserved at least one category in Golden Globes where its movies could compete among themselves. This gesture would bring more credibility to Golden Globes also in the international arena, as it was long overdue.

Rajan Zed, who is chairperson of Indo-American Leadership Confederation, further said that cinema in India, based in Mumbai and various regional centers, reportedly produced much more films and drew much larger audience globally than Hollywood (which released only 610 movies in 2008). It was unfair for such an influential cinema not to have its own category at Golden Globes. "Best Foreign Language Film" Award at Golden Globes did not do justice to such a large industry, Zed added.

Golden Globes recognize achievements in 25 categories; 14 in motion pictures and 11 in television. "The 67th Annual golmaal" will be held at Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills (California, USA) on January 17 next year. In the nominations announced on December 15, yet to be commercially released "Up in the Air" about a frequent-traveler corporate downsizing expert directed by Oscar nominated Jason Reitman (Juno) and starring Oscar winner George Clooney (Good Night, and Good Luck) was nominated for highest six categories.
