Eros International, the leading London-listed Indian media and entertainment company has announced an unprecedented opening for Imtiaz Ali"s Love Aaj Kal – an Illuminati Films production in association with Eros International. Eros International released the film worldwide on 31st July 2009 and the film has since grossed Rs. 108 crores in its first week, making it the highest grosser of the year with over Rs. 75 crores coming from India ( Rs. 45 crores net).
Love Aaj Kal enjoyed a wide release with approximately 1200 prints and released in 1800 plus screens worldwide and saw screenings as early as 7.30 a.m. in certain multiplexes in India, making it one of the most anticipated films in recent times. The film"s staggering first week gross collections have made it one of the biggest ever openings for a Hindi film in India as well as overseas. With as many as 20-22 shows planned daily at some multiplexes, Eros International is looking forward to an excellent run of the film.
