Slumdog Millionaire doesn't impress Aamir much

Aamir Khan has publicly said that the multiple Oscars winner Slumdog Millionaire didn"t impress him too much. He said, "I have seen Slumdog and the film didn't work for me."

It almost seems it"s a case of sour grapes for the actor whose ambitious Taare Zameen Par didn't make it to the Oscar nomination list this year. His much acclaimed Lagaan couldn"t win in the best foreign film category in 2002 too.

But he still doesn"t want people to think otherwise as he praises the Oscar wins by the Indians - two for music maestro A.R. Rahman and Best Sound Mixing for India's Resul Pookutty.

He"s said, "This is my personal view. I can understand why the film is being appreciated around the world because outside India people see it with a lot of fascination and feel quite engaged to the story. But for someone who lives here, the film goes over the top. Nevertheless, I am very happy that the people like the movie."

He also said, “I am thrilled to know that Resul has won the award. He is very talented guy, it is amazing and a very proud moment for all of us." He added, "It's great to see that Indian talent is getting recognised abroad. Now the world has seen the work done by Indians. Resul is extremely meticulous and every time he tries to create fresh sounds. He really loves and enjoys his work and does it with a lot dedication."

Mr. Perfectionist also is a great diplomat, must say.

I just saw this movie, and I must say it was really mediocre, with a lot of cliches. I like Aamir, dont understand why it got all the oscars.

if all the good indian art movie (of social cause and msg) directors (ex. Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Girish karnad, Girish Kasaravalli.....etc...) makes a movie in english (rather in their regional languages) and releses in western countries, they would have got more oscars. than this slum dog (here the concept was excellent, but movie(slm dog) was not good)
