It's very rare that a TV actress gets a break on the silver screen. But Prachi Desai (Bani of Kasamh Se) has three films coming her way after her film debut in Rock On. Says a source, "Apart from Rock On, Prachi has bagged three more projects. She is doing an Abbas-Mastan production Life Partner and two films with Sunil Shetty's Popcorn Entertainment. She had a meeting with Sunil a few days ago.'
Adds the source, "Every body from Sunil to Shabana Azmi has been impressed with Prachi's big screen debut in Abhishek Kapoor's Rock On. Shabana has seen Prachi's debut film twice."
The source adds, "In fact Shabana called up the Rock On director Abhishek (Gattu) Kapoor to say she was amazed that Prachi has given such a mature performance in spite of being only 19 years old and that Farhan and Prachi appear to be so comfortable on screen as husband and wife. "And all this is happening to Prachi who never wanted to come into films as she felt she didn't look beautiful enough to be an actress! In fact, when Gattu had wanted to audition her, she didn't turn up!
Gattu had liked her in the dance show Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa and his mom had liked her in Kasamh Se. Gattu always felt that Prachi was a cracker. Ekta Kapoor had to convince Prachi to go for her audition. Adds the source, "Prachi comes from a conservative middle-class family who thinks B-Town is a bad place. Ekta told Prachi that Rock On was a huge film and one wrong decision might mess up her life."
Sunil Shetty says, "Yes I will cast Prachi in two films. She has tremendous potential and an immense following. She is also a brilliant dancer and has expressions galore. She belongs to the mould of Kajol and Rani."
