The Bachchans attacked again

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) activists have once again come down heavily on the Bachchans, perhaps the most influential family in Bollywood. MNS Chief Raj Thackeray had earlier attacked Amitabh Bachchan, alleging that he was more interested in Uttar Pradesh than Maharashtra. This time around, it seems to be the turn of his wife Jaya Bachchan, Samajwadi Party MP.

Jaya made a controversial statement at the audio release function of the film Drona recently. Her statement that she would speak in Hindi, as she belonged to Uttar Pradesh, invited the wrath of the MNS activists and its Chief Raj Thackeray's demanded an apology from the actress and MP. Following this outcry, Jaya apologised to the people of Maharashtra, saying that she was sorry if her statement had hurt their sentiments. She added that she has great regard for the state and its language.

However, MNS leader Shishir Shinde is not happy with the apology. He said that she should call for a news conference and apologise before the Marathi media persons rather than before a handful of non-Marathi journalists.

Well, the prospect of the film The Last Lear, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Drona, starring Abhishek Bachchan, would be jeopardised if MNS continues the agitation.

I was opposing MNS but in last remark, Jaya made mistake. Her statement was unwanted. Why someone not asking her saying "we belong to UP". Why she asked "Maharashtra" people to forgive. Neither I am marathi nor I am from UP but still think this time Jaya was wrong (doesn't mean that I support to MNS). Further Amitabh has really done anything great for Mumbai and that is fact. If he can open college in UP, he should do for Mumbai.
