The Brihan Maharashtra Madal of North America (BMM) is holding its 13th biennial convention in Seattle, Washington from 28th June 2007 till 1st July, 2007.
The BMM serves the Marathi community in the North America. The conventions which is attended by approximately 5 to 6 thousand people from all over America provides an opportunity to interact and discuss issues of common interest and provide a forum to display artistic talents.
As a part of this convention the BMM has invited the Two Time National Award Winning director Madhur Bhandarkar as a guest of honor, for having made a significant a significant contribution using the film medium to portray social issues.
The audience of North America has appreciated and enjoyed his thought provoking movies. They wish to felicitate him commending his efforts for bringing social conscience of his audience to the surface.
Also the fact that he's a Maharashtrian makes the BMM and all the Maharashtrians in America very proud. The BMM has in the previous conventions honored other noted Maharashtrians, like Asha Bhonsle, Bhimsen Joshi, Madhuri Dixit and many other talented people having an artistic mind bend. Madhur's films include Page 3, Corporate and Traffic Signal.
