Amrita Rao has done romantic role opposite Mahesh Babu in Telugu film Athidhi. This film has done record breaking business in Andhra Pradesh. This film has established her as the number one heroine in Telugu cinema.
Her introduction in the film is in a dreamlike surreal manner wherein she imagines herself to be a super woman, something like matrix and beats a lecherous teacher to pulp. In this film Amrita's look is very different and sensuous. It is unlike her regular roles that she has done in Hindi films till now.
Amrita has been very steady all through and her forthcoming films are Short Cut, which is Anil kapoor's home production with Akshaye Khanna and Arshad Warsi and where she has a very glamorous platform. Another is with Shyam Benegal which is one of the biggest opportunities for her this year. She has a release in December My Name Is Anthhony Gonsalves and also there are a lot of other big offers.
