Amitabh BachchanEmbroiled in a controversy over allotment of land to him in Uttar Pradesh by the State's erstwhile Samajwadi Party government, Bollywood mega superstar Amitabh Bachchan on has said that he was ready to face probe in the matter.

Breaking his silence on the issue, Bachchan said, "I am a law-abiding citizen and will obey whatever the law asks me to do. If proved wrong, we are ready to face penalty. If everything is found to be in order, I would say thank you", the Big B told a television news channel.

Bachchan, however, refused to comment on Mayawati government's decision to probe the legality of the land allotment in Barabanki district but maintained that the property papers given to him by the government were in order. "Now, the government is saying that it should be probed. I am ready," he added.

The BSP government had asked the Barabanki district magistrate to look into the land allotment and he has already submitted his report. Meanwhile, Bachchan and his son Abhishek Bachchan visited the famous Siddhivinayaka Temple in Mumbai in the early hours on Tuesday. The duo paid obeisance to Lord Ganesha. This was the first visit by the Bachchan family after Abhishek got married to Aishwarya in April.

Amitabh visited the temple before a court hearing in Uttar Pradesh's Faizabad district in connection with the case related to the alleged irregularities in allotment of a government land at Barabanki to Amitabh. The erstwhile Mulayam Singh Yadav government had allotted three bighas (about 70,000 sq ft) of prime land in Barabanki district to Bachchan.
