The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) will be celebrating Indian cinema legend Amitabh Bachchan this year. The organisation is holding a weekend dedicated to Big B on June 16 and 17. The weekend will showcase Bachchan's enormous success and contribution to the Indian film industry with screenings and evenings dedicated to Bollywood's most celebrated superstar.
He is one of the most powerful actors in Indian cinema with a career that has spanned more than three decades. With over 160 films and a multitude of international awards, honours and recognitions to his credit, Bachchan changed the face of Indian cinema with the "angry young man" persona he established in the seventies.
It was the beginning of the Bachchan era with worldwide hits including 'Sholay', 'Don', 'Amar Akbar Anthony' and 'Kabhie Kabhie' launching Bachchan into cinema history.
