Slumdog child actor beaten up by father

The news is doing the rounds that Slumdog Millionaire child actor Azharuddin Mohammed was brutally beaten up by his father when he refused to meet the media and the other people gathered outside his house to congratulate him.

It so happened that the kid was too tired and wasn't able to get out of his hut to pay a visit to the people waiting for him. His father lost his temper on this and started beating the kid. The neighbours who saw the incident came to the young lad's rescue and bought the situation under control. The father later apologized everyone for his misdeed and added he was out of control.

Azharuddin who donned the role of young Salim in Danny Boyle's Oscar winning flick Slumdog Millionaire, had returned Mumbai just a couple of days ago. He and his co-star Rubina Ali, dwelling the same slums, were earlier promised by the Government of Maharashtra that they would be granted with a new luxurious apartment and the location is yet unknown.

Rani, there isn’t a person cognizant of this entire situation who doesn’t think that those who made promises to Azhar should deliver on them. When news hit the media about two "Slumdog" stars being underpaid and living in filth, it was the director and producer who said they were going to give Azhar and co-star Rubina new flats. To date, they’re still sleeping under garbage strewn tarps, with Azhar’s tarp facing demolition within a week. You must find this acceptable since you refuted items that had nothing to do with my point. Absolutely no mention was made in my statement about a cash windfall. The fact remains that these kids were promised homes and yet, they’re still living in trash. It’s odd you have great difficulty understanding how wrong that is.

The child's father should be put in jail for illtreating the kid!! This man has no comprehension of the fact that the journey from across the world can cause severe jetlag and complete derrangement. As other reveiwer said, for him the kid is no more than a cashier's check. This arrogant father needs to respect the kid who is a "Farishta" for him and may get him out of his miseries. I can see now why Danny Boyle may not have given all the money upfront because it may not stay with the kid who worked hard for this award and instead his greedy father may spend it all. It is better that the kids get this money over a period of time while living in the flat promised by Maharashtra government.
