World Music Day: 25 Evergreen Romantic Bollywood Songs

Today is World Music Day, which is Celebrated annually on June 21. World Music Day is also referred to as Fete de la Musique and it began in France in the year 1982.

On World Music Day, amateurs and professional musicians perform on streets or in public places. Also, on this day big bands and musicians usually throw a free gig and invite cross-genre artists to share the stage with them.

On the occasion of World Music Day, we bring to you 25 evergreen romantic songs of Bollywood.

Do you remember the famous Raj Kapoor, Nargis' famous romantic song, 'Yeh raat bheegi bheegi' from the movie Chori Chori? Chori Chori is a 1956 Hindi film directed by Anant Thakur, with music by Shankar Jaikishan and lyrics by Hasrat Jaipuri and Shailendra. The music of this movie played a very important role in making Chori Chori a superhit. The songs, 'Aaja sanam', 'Yeh raat Bheegi Bheegi' and 'Jahan Mein Jati Hun' are still remembered today.

The hit song 'Aaja sanam madhur chandani mein hum' from the movie Chori Chori was sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Manna Dey.

Pyar Hua Ekraar Hua

'Pyar hua ekraar hua' is one of the evergreen romantic songs from the movie Shree 420. It is a 1955 film starring Raj Kapoor and Nargis. The lyrics of the song were penned by Shailendra and the song was sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Manna Dey.

Chaudhvin Ka Chand

Chaudhvin Ka Chand is a 1960 Hindi feature film directed by Mohammed Sadiq. The title song of the movie was sung by Mohammad Rafi.

Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya

Mughal-e-Azam is a 1960 Indian period film directed by K Asif. The famous song 'Pyar kiya to' was sung by Lata Mangeshkar.

Gaata Rahe Mera Dil

The famous song from Guide, 'Gaata rahe mera dil' was sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar.

Roop Tera Mastana

Aradhana is a 1969 film directed by Shakti Samanta, starring Sharmila Tagore and Rajesh Khanna. Kishore Kumar gave the voice for 'Roop tera mastana'.

Baahon Mein Chale Aao

Anamika gave many memorable songs composed by RD Burman such as 'Meri bheegi bheegi si' sung by Kishore Kumar and 'Bahon mein chale aao" sung by Lata Mangeshkar.

Chura Liya

Yaadon Ki Baaraat is a 1973 film directed by Nasir Hussain. The track, 'Chura liya hai' sung by Asha Bhosle and Mohammed Rafi, is particularly well-known.

Kabhi Kabhi

Kabhi Kabhi is a 1976 Bollywood film, produced and directed by Yash Chopra. The title song sung by Mukesh and Lata Mangeshkar was very popular.

Dekha Ek Khawab To

Silsila is a 1981 Hindi film directed by Yash Chopra. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar, Rekha. Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar sang this (Dekha ek khawab to) romantic track.

Mere Rang Mein

SP Balasubrahmanyam gave voice to this romantic number for the movie Maine Pyar Kiya.

Nazar Ke Samne

Aashiqui is a Bollywood romantic film released in 1990. The film made the careers of singer Kumar Sanu and composers Nadeem-Shravan. Kumar Sanu, Anuradha Paudwal sang this hit romantic song.

Pehla Nasha

The music of Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar was given by Jatin Lalit. The song 'Pehla nasha' was sung by Udit Narayan, Sadhana Sargam.

Ek Ladki Ko

Kumar Sanu sung 'Ek ladki ko dekha' for 1942: A Love Story. The film starred Anil Kapoor, Manisha Koirala, Jackie Shroff, Anupam Kher, Danny Denzongpa, and Pran.

Tu Hi Re

Bombay is a critically acclaimed and national award-winning 1995 Tamil film directed by Mani Ratnam, starring Arvind Swamy and Manisha Koirala, with music composed by AR Rahman.

Tujhe Dekha To

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge also known as DDLJ, is a 1995 film. The song 'Tujhe dekha to' was sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Kumar Sanu.

Chand Chupa

Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik sang 'Chand chupa badal mein' from the movie Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.

Suraj Hua Madham

The music of the film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham was composed by Jatin Lalit, Sandesh Shandilya and Aadesh Shrivastava. Alka Yagnik, Sonu Nigam sang the song 'Suraj hua madham'.

Bheege Hoth tere

Murder is a 2004 Hindi erotic thriller film directed by Anurag Basu and produced by Mukesh Bhatt. Kunal Ganjawala sang the famous number 'Bheege hoth tere'.

Saathiya

Saathiya is a 2002 Hindi romance film directed by Shaad Ali and produced by Mani Ratnam and Yash Chopra, under the banner of Yash Raj Films. The title track was sung by Sonu Nigam.

Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai

Shreya Ghoshal and Shaan sang the romantic track  'Jaadu hai nasha hai' from the movie Jism.

Mere Haath Mein

Fanaa is a 2006 Hindi romance film, starring Aamir Khan and Kajol in pivotal roles. Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi Chauhan gave their voice for the soulful number 'Mere haath mein'.

Khudha Jaane

KK and Shilpa Rao sang 'Khudha jaane' from the movie Bachna Ae Haseeno. The song featured Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.

Ishq Wala Love

Student of the Year is a 2012 Indian coming-of-age romantic comedy film directed by Karan Johar. The song 'Ishq wala love' is sung by Shekhar Ravjiani, Salim Merchant and Neeti Mohan.

Tum Hi Ho

Aashiqui 2 is a 2013 Bollywood romantic musical drama film directed by Mohit Suri. Starring Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles. The famous romantic song 'Tum hi ho' was sung by Arijit Singh.
