Accolade winning filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia's upcoming release Paan Singh Tomar is all set to bring back the lost genre of dacoits. Bollywood has a long list of deadly dacoits, whose ruthlessness and cruelty makes us cringe with fear. If things go well with Paan Singh Tomar, possibly Irrfan Khan's name might get added up to the list, leaving behind a mark.

But Paan Singh Tomar defines a dacoit, with a pinch of difference. It doesn't speak of the stereotyped dacoits, with striking black tilak marked on the forehead, ferocious looks and deadly eyes. Paan Singh Tomar is a not typical genre of dacoit film, as Dhulia believes. It portrays the story of a real life sportsman and national champion named Tomar, who will later turn into 'Bandit King' of the Chambal Valley.

The current Bollywood has long lost it's 'daku' genre. Possibly in order to relive the same, Tigmanshu Dhulia has revived the daku dramas of 70s and 80s. Sharma feels that for the current, young generation, this concept is something new and something that should work in favour of PAAN SINGH TOMAR. He also believes that since the death of this genre, it would definitely work well in recent times, since we still love to watch Gabbar Singh and Raka on screen.
