Rishi wanted to make sure that he gets all the nuances in terms of authenticity of dialect, body language etc. absolutely right. He felt that the Punjabi he speaks in real life at home with his wife Neetu and son Ranbir is quite young and contemporary and wouldn't suit the character of a hardcore Punjabi man. Being the professional that he is, Rishi decided to go and take help of all his aunts and learn the authentic Punjabi dialect and accent. He wanted to learn the old style of Punjabi which older people speak. Only after he had done with his home work and was completely prepared, did he start shooting for the film.
Confirms producer Bhushan Kumar, "Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor is most famous for his professionalism and that reflects in his performance in all his films. As Bauji, in Patiala House, he has done a great job and naturally that credits to his hard work and focus."
