Desi Boyz
Bollywood movie Desi Boyz has received mixed reviews from film critics. Most of the critics have appreciated the amazing chemistry between Akshay Kumar and John Abraham and their comic timing, debutant director Rohit Dhawan's treatment of the subject and Pritham music. The film has a weak story, which has been described as nonsense by a few critics. The movie received an average rating of 2.5.

Koimoi: Komal Nahta's Rating: 4
The best part of the screenplay is that it treats the subject of recession, break-up of friendship, heartbreak, and family drama in a light-hearted manner and keeps the audience entertained throughout.

Subhash K. Jha's Rating: 3.5
Desi Boyz, despite all flaws, provides for wholesome desi entertainment. An enjoyable one time watch specially for Sanjay Dutt's performance! Go for it! Boys bonding is a great subject for comedies.

Times Of India: Nikhat Kazmi's Rating: 3.5
Desi Boyz goes beyond the fair sex. It makes everyone smile most of the while. The editing (Nitin Rokade) is seamless, bringing together the four principal actors' individual charms into a collective space without crowding the canvas. To their credit every principal actor, and that includes Anupam Kher (playing Deepika Padukone's zany dad) and Omi Vaidya (as her wimpy fiance) seems to get into the film's vivacious frothy mood without letting the dark underbelly of the film be squandered in frivolity.

Glamsham: Martin D'Souza's Rating: 3.5
First time director Rohit Dhawan shows spunk in his maiden venture. He establishes his characters with the ease of a pro to set the ball rolling. Even the curious case of why one should resort to becoming a male escort is forgiven because it is handled with maturity. The first half is tight and slickly edited, coupled with a fine performance by the two leading men, John Abraham and Akshay Kumar.

Oneindia Rating: 3
Actors Akshay Kumar and John Abraham have already rocked the audience with their slap-stick comedy in the movie Garam Masala. The duo is back with another comic-caper. In their latest movie Desi Boyz, they take their comic-timing to next level, which is sure to entertain the movie-goers.

Taran Adarsh's review: Bollywood Hungama, Rating: 2
DESI BOYZ is a lot of fun as the male protagonists take to pleasing their female clientele. The first hour, frankly, is akin to a roller coaster ride with lots of fascinating developments unfolding at a feverish pace. The best part is that a tinge of realism [economic crisis] has been injected to the plot, which makes the motives appear convincing on screen. In fact, it's pretty evident that this is not a no-brainer rom-com. But it's the second half that does a complete somersault.

DNA India: Soumyadipta Banerjee's Rating: 2.5

The average pop-corn munching and coffee drinking crowd looking for some weekend fun for two hours, after a hard week"s work, will like this film. It"s simple: you don"t need to think or ponder, just go there, watch John and Akshay engage in some serious bromance and watch John Abraham throw out dialogues like “Main Jerry (Akshay Kumar) ke liye ek baar nahi, sau bar galati karne ke liye taiyyar hoon." No it doesn"t move you, doesn"t make you emotional or even engage you in any manner. This film will begin and end like the tub of pop-corn in your hand.

Hindustan Times: Mayank Shekhar Rating: 1.5
One unrelated song follows another. You wonder why producers don"t just release albums with starry music videos instead. Why bother with a willfully moronic movie attempting to string a soundtrack together. Songs survive. Films rarely do. Filmmakers themselves don"t care enough about the characters. Why should the audience, so what"s the point?

The Hindu: Anuj Kumar Review
The son of David Dhawan, who gave us some mindless comedies in the last decade before missing the trick, lives up to expectations. He has given us a sleek, upmarket version of what his father has been dishing out all these years. A cute orphan, a staple patriotic moment, a court-room climax and that at the end of the day, heroes can't go morally wrong — it has all the chapters from Bollywood's book of cliches but is packaged in the proverbial new bottle.

India Today: Kaveree Bamzai's Rating: 0
Two men become male escorts but because they're good Indian boys they don't do sex. Every supposed female fantasy of men dressed as Dhoni and Yuvraj, firefighters, Tom Cruise from Top Gun and police officers is addressed in a series of songs which see Akshay Kumar and John Abraham jiggle their pelvis and shake their butts. These are Bollywood superstars? Watch them behaving like porn stars, flaunting their chests and their lack of acting talent in an assault on sense and sensibility.

The achievement of DESIBOYZ is although it has touched upon a bold theme of male escorting, it still afloats safely in a clean, time-pass or a chick-flick-date-movie territory. Still wonder what made the censor board give it an A…a clear under-estimation of the kind of access and the awareness which our face-book teens possess.

Not really worth a watch. No strong story line. Nothing interesting in the movie, not even the songs. Waste of time and waste of money. Worth a watch only for John, Akshay and Deepika's fans.

I liked the movie and would rate it 3/5. John Abraham and Akshay Kumar make a better pair than John and Abhishek. Deepika and Chitrangda served the purpose of glam quotient. Omi Vaidya roles are getting stereotypical. However, the end of the Movie did not make any sense after the trouble the heroes took to change their image.
