Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif thinks that Smt. Sonia Gandhi is an ideal politician and she even fits the position of the Prime Minister of India. The actress has completed the shooting of her latest movie Raajneeti. Currently, she is busy touring for the promotion of the movie in India. Meanwhile, she is also excited to know the response of the audience for her role in it.
Along with Ranbir Kapoor, screenplay writer Anjum Rajabali, Manoj Bajpei and director Prakash Jha, Katrina Kaif was recently in Bangalore as part of the promotion of Raajneeti. She attended the debate on 'Aaj Kal Ke Raajneeti' held at Brigade Millenium convention hall in Bangalore on Monday (May 10).
The actress argued that graduation should not be made mandatory for an MLA/MP. She said, “I haven"t done graduation. I don"t think it would be appropriate to make it mandatory that a person, who wants to become an MLA/MP, should obtain a degree because there are several politicians in Indian history, who have achieved a lot without having a graduation. So I think what one needs to do to take part in politics is that he/she must have dedication and passion to bring about a change in the existing political system."
Speaking about her role in the film Raajneeti, Katrina Kaif said, “I"m playing Indhu Sakseria and she is a princess, who is beautiful, passionate and arrogant. She has only one all-consuming love. But the changing electoral fortunes make her face the challenges of every contender, over-turning the political future of the state. "
She added, “It"s great role and I had never expected myself to be able to play such a role. I got this great opportunity from director Prakash Jha. Besides this, he also helped me a lot to prepare for the role. On this occasion, I would like to thank him. Meanwhile, I"m quite curious to know the response of the audience for my role in the film."
Talking about whether she would enter politics in future, the Bollywood babe said, “One need to be really gifted to lead the people of country/state. He/she need to have lot of guts and logic and it"s not an easy job. I think I"m not gifted one to be a politician. So I would never like to enter politics."
Replying to a question about her ideal politicians, she said, “There are many ideal politician in India. But myself being a woman, I would like to name a woman. I think Sonia Gandhi makes an ideal politician. She is really bold and learned lady. She can even handle the most responsible position like Prime Minister of India." Katrina signs off.
