When the news broke out that Imran Khan and Deepika Padukone would act together in Break Ke Baad, film lovers were excited. People have been waiting to see the Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na hero and Om Shanti Om girl together on the big screens. The hype leading up to its release was also good. But reality hit hard even before its release. Reason - critics are not very impressed. Some gave bad reviews while others gave not so favourable reviews.

Popular critic Taran Adarsh described Break Ke Baad as a boring fare that gets unbearable after a point. “Break Ke Baad goes wrong, sorry horribly wrong in its writing. The screenplay is full of glitches, the writing is juvenile, the situations are amateurish and I actually wondered how a shoddy screenplay like the one in Break Ke Baad was green-lit and approved in the first place," he wrote, adding, “Break Ke Baad has a vibrant Imran and Deepika as its USP, but a faulty and an unpersuasive screenplay as is its major stumbling block. Fails to impress!"

Sonia Chopra is all praise for the lead pair but thinks that script has let the film down. “The storytelling merely scratches the surface of the characters" conflicts, preferring not to delve any further, and unconvincingly served to the audience," she wrote.

However, film critic Aniruddha Guha is of the opinion that the film would attract the youngsters who loves rom-com. “The film, though, could have done without the predictable climax where Aaliya (female lead character) realises she 'loves" Abhay (lead actor)." He added, “Watch Break Ke Baad for a mushy, sweet outing at the multiplex, preferably with a date. It"s a 'rom-com' that gets it right."

Gaurav Malani also thinks that Break Ke Baad is not path-breaking but watchable. He wrote, “While it is certainly not bad, there is nothing path-breaking about Break Ke Baad either. It's time our filmmakers break free from the clutter of such conventional romantic comedies. It's time to move on from such breakup boredom."

Well, Break Ke Baad, directed by Danish Aslam, has received mixed reviews from bad to watchable film from the critics but the final verdict is a few days away. It is the audience who will decide of the film at the end of the day. The film might click because of rom-com lovers. Over to the audience now!
