Rocket Singh – Salesman of the Year: Highlights

Bollywood's latest sensation Ranbir Kapoor is still stuck in college. Just on the heels of playing a lazy and unmotivated guy in Wake Up Sid, he plays a dull guy in Rocket Singh – Salesman of the Year. And his roles in these films are similar, as his life starts changing only after getting out of college.

Rocket Singh tells the story of Harpreet Singh Bedi (Ranbir Kapoor), who goes in search of his dream in spite of scoring poorly in the exams. He cannot get white-collar jobs due to his poor academic background and so he turns salesman. The very idea of dressing smart and convincing the people with smooth talks attracted him into the profession. Will he be successful in the profession? The rest of the story tells just that!

All eyes will be on Ranbir Kapoor. He must be feeling the pressure at the moment, as he is expected to put up a good show after the success of Wake Up Sid. He seems to be on the right path as far as his film career is concerned but his love life has been laid low following the alleged split from his long-time girlfriend Deepika Padukone. He badly needs the success of Rocket Singh to heal the wounds of the break-up.

Interestingly, the makers of the film roped in newcomers Shehnaz Padamsee and Gauhar Khan to act with Ranbir. It was a big risk because Ranbir too is just a few films old. Even before the release of the film, Shehnaz and Gauhar have started claiming bigger screen space in the film. You don't know if these babes will do justice to their roles.

One of the highlights of Rocket Singh will be the alleged kissing scene between Ranbir and Shehnaz. It will be Ranbir's first mouth-to-mouth onscreen kiss if Shehnaz's claim is to be believed.

Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year is produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films banner and directed by Shimit Amin. It is releasing tomorrow, December 11.

ROCKET SINGH - AAPNE BECHA; HUMNE KHARIDA. CUSTOMER SATISFACTION GUARANTEED.Target Achieved. Calls for the bonus and incentives. Raise the toast, guys. Seems like decades after, Yash Raj hits the bull’s eye after Chak De and the Ranbir Kapoor graph soars high with one more hit in a year. Script is the hero. And Shimit Amin - Jaideep Sahani duo, the master of simplicity and presentation entertaining the masses with risky and boring subject of sales effectively with humor. Watch it for simplicity and sales funda presented through simple sales lingo turning into punch lines like, “Spiderman Bhi Risk Leta Hai, Mai toh Salesman Hoon. “Watch it for Ranbir Kapoor, D Santosh, Gauhar Khan, Manish Choudhary, Mukesh Bhatt. A sure shot subject that deserves a place in the Oscar Academy for script analysis and academic purpose. Folks, Ajab Prem Ki Ghajab Kahaani, Rocket Singh - the sales man of the year and Paa prove it once again, content is the king and not the budget or star cast. Best Scene - When Sunil Puri meets Rocket Singh(Harpreet Singh Bedi.) at Chroma Retail and tips him the best funda of sales and life in the climax. My Ratings 3.5/5 stars - Prasad Satkalmi
