When Atul Agnihotri directed Hello bombed, it proved how a best selling novel (One Night @ The Call Centre) could be made into a cinematic disaster. But when you have Raj Kumar Hirani and Aamir Khan together, you can be rest assured that same story would not be repeated. Chetan Bhagat would have thanked heavens for the response 3 Idiots inspired by his first book Five Point Someone received at the Bog Office.
If you though Aamir alone is the plus point of 3 Idiots, you are wrong. Salman has an equal fan following but hasn't been able to convince the audience. The USP behind 3 Idiots its screenplay. The movie has a smooth flow and cinematography is awesome. Shot across a locales in India it again proves Indian movie audience aren't big just wooed by grand foreign locations which Karan Johar patronises or the bikini beaches a common sight in Akshay Kumar's movies.
3 Idiots is no Taare Zameen Par but in a subtle manner it raised a few questions about the country's educational system. When a humorous Aamir says “Just imagine if Lata Mangeshkar"s father had told her she can"t sing and become a cricketer or Sachin Tendulkar was forbidden from playing cricket and asked to sing. Would they have been successful?" he raises an important question in the movie. 3 Idiots is not just about entertainment, but a reflection of the society at large.
At the wrong side of 40 it isn't easy to convince oneself as a college going student but Aamir does it with perfection. His acts in the movie can shame the coolest of duds in any college. Sharman Joshi and Madhavan make up the troublesome trio. This is where 3 Idiots has most of its parallels with Five Point Someone. Kareena Kapoor was perfect in her short role. She reminded Geet of Jab We Met and looked straight out that movie. Boman Irani starring in a Hirani movie can only create excellence.
All these factors make 3 Idiots into one of the best entertainers of not just this year but off the decade. 3 Idiots is not about out of skin acting or marvellous story telling.
