Aslam Khan talks about his 'next'

Aslam Khan has a great comic timing. His character of Raja in Nayee Padosan was a riot. Later, he did Dil Bechara Pyar Ka Mara which was the story of mistaken identities and ensuing confusion. His third film Raffo Chakkar- fun on the run is once again a comedy directed by Tharun Kumar, the Nayee Padosan director. Naturally, Aslam is excited about this latest venture produced by Friday Pictures.

What kind of a character are you playing in the film Raffoo Chakkar-fun on the run?
I am playing the character of a handsome but dumb boy called Munnu who has a brother called Pappu. Both are funny and have never stayed without each other. They do everything together. Both are not interested in getting married but want to enjoy life. They have a roving eye, love to flaunt girl friends and just do time-pass. They also believe their father is a devil who is forcing them to get married. So, they plan to run away from their home. This is where their life goes on a rollercoaster ride with realistic comedy.

Your film Nayee Padosan was a comedy and Raffoo Chakkar is also a comedy, so how different is one from the other?
Nayee Padosan was a different kind of comedy story where three guys are trying to impress a single female and fight amongst each other for the girl, whereas in Raffoo Chakkar there is no fight. In fact, Munnu finds a girlfriend and falls in love with her. And then has to face lots of problem for his love. So, both the films have different story line and are totally different from each other.

Comment on your co- stars?
It was a good experience working with them because we had the privilege to work with some of the senior experienced stars like Shakti Kapoor, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Archanaji and Mitaji who were so very perfect with their dialogs and body language. For comedy one needs to be perfect and in synch with others. Everybody worked hard while enjoying the entire schedules.

Your costar Nisha Rawal said that you recommended her name. How long is your friendship with Nisha and how was your experience working with her?
Actually, the producer wanted a new face for the film and had asked me if I knew anybody. I had seen Nisha in Sonu Nigam's Album 'Chanda Ki Doli' and found that she had a great potential, so I recommended her. I enjoyed working with Nisha because she is very good, friendly and supportive girl and gets along with everybody. My other costars Nauheed, Mita Ji and Archanaji were also friendly so it made things go smoother and easier.

Tell us about the director, B H Tharun Kumar.
Tharunji is a very nice person and I had already worked with him in Nayee Padosan. Naturally, I was very comfortable working with him. In fact, Tharunji knows what he wants and makes work easier for the artist. We both share a mutual understanding between us, which makes things go smoother.

Any memorable incident of the film which you would like to share?
The entire film full of incidents but one of the experiences was a very painful. Mitaji was supposed to hit me once with a tray, and she went overboard with it. She was supposed to playact and hit only once but in her zeal she kept hitting me repeatedly and didn't stop. Even Tarunji didn't say cut and eventually I was really hurt, physically. I was in pain for quite some time.

There are many senior artists in the film so how helpful was it for you? And how was your chemistry with them?
The involvement of the senior artistes was more and that helped me as well as his other co- stars. In fact, Archanaji was so much into this film that she would even give different ideas about the dialogues that would suit the scenes.

What about the film's USP?
The USP of the film is total combination of eight pairs and two young boys married to middle age girls.

Who has given the music for the film?
The music is given by Lalit Pandit.

Any song picturised on you?
It's a Suhaag Raat scene with the two middle aged girls, where the two boys are totally drunk and dream about their girlfriends and think these two middle aged are their girls. And the song is Hum Maare. It was fun.

Something about your forth coming films?
I have signed two new films, one is the much talked about Nayee Padosan -2 and yet another Untitled film.

Would you be interested doing some different kind of a role beyond comedy?
Yes, apart from comedy if I get some other role I would surely go for it. In fact, my second film has nothing funny about it.
