Madhur BhandarkarHis recent release Corporate has opened to good reviews and response all over. National Award winning director Madhur Bhandarkar is currently concentrating on his next project Traffic Signal.

Known for real life drama, Madhur feels there is no hard and fast rule for the movies. "I love to make movies that interest me as a director. I noticed that Signal is one such kind of world that interested me. And that compelled me to think about this subject" Reality fascinates Madhur, who loves to reveal the other side of the society and Traffic Signal is one of the places where all class of the people meet at once. "It's about the perspective of rich people, who travel by luxurious cars and how they look at the beggars and the sex workers, who stand at the signal and vice versa".

Traffic Signal is about the people who are closely related to the signal. It shows the up and down phase of their lives. And to make it more real Madhur has experimented by taking 10 real beggars and eunuchs in the film. Talking about the star cast of the film he said, "It's a dark humor film and the star cast had to be believable. I don't have big names in my film but Neetu Chandra and Kunal Khemu, who collect money from beggars, perfectly fit the bill. Konkona Sen Sharma plays prostitute in the movie and has done a fantastic job. She will be seen in totally different role that will leave a mark of her talent. We are currently shooting at Karjat."

Though he started his career with a commercial film like Trishakti, he wants people to recognize him with his hard hitting subjects like Chandni Bar, Satta and Page 3. "Though I did Trishakti and Aan at the beginning, I realized that it's not my kind of cinema. A lot of people have asked me; how do I always come out with such unusual subjects? But I love to see the other side of life and society that all of us are not aware of. It's my vision to see things from all the aspects of life and that compels me to work on such subjects. Realistic cinema fascinates me than a typical commercial drama.

When asked that has life changed after all these awards and hits, he replies, "I am the same person. I have seen lot of ups and downs in my life. I am a devotee of Lord Ganesha and even today I walk down from Khar to the Sidhivinayak temple every Tuesday morning, which I have been doing since nine years now. And it's at the signal outside this temple that the idea of Traffic Signal struck me".

Ask him about his future plans and the busy director says, "I have signed a movie with UTV and will also soon turn into movie production. However, more on it later! It's too early to speak on it". Prod him more and he says, "I don't know where I will be after five years from now. All I know is that I will become a father very soon".
