Shahrukh's Chennai Express First Day Collection At Box Office

Rohit Shetty's latest directorial venture Chennai Express, which has got a flying start on Friday, has done a fantabulous business at the Indian Box Office on its opening day. The Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer has beaten the first day collection record of Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger, which was holding the record of all-time biggest opener in the history of Indian cinema.

Chennai Express, one of the most-awaited Hindi movies of 2013, had huge amount of advance ticket booking for Friday. With this, the movie registered 100% occupancy in both single screens and multiplexes. Hours before the first show began on Friday, many theatres were displaying the board - "All tickets for the first day sold out." These houseful boards left thousands of SRK fans disappointed.

Chennai Express set a new record by collecting Rs 6.75 crores nett in its paid previews on Thursday. The movie released in 3,500+ screens across the country on Friday, which was Eid holiday. Cashing in on this festive season, the Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer has collected Rs 33.12 crores nett at the Indian Box Office on the first day. With this, its total stands at Rs 39.87 crores nett.

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer Ek Tha Tiger, which was also released in 3,500+ screens on August 15, Independence day, had collected Rs 32.92 crores on its opening day. Now, Chennai Express has shattered this record and created history by setting a new benchmark at the Indian Box Office.

The movie has got huge amount of advance ticket booking for its first weekend. Maximum amount of tickets have been sold out for the screening of Chennai Express in most of theatres on Saturday and Sunday. Trade experts feel that the film will join Rs 100 crore club in three to four days. It is sure to become the fastest Rs 100 crore grosser by beating the record of Ek Tha Tiger, which had achieved this magical figure in five days.
