Special 26, which released in 1750 screens, debuted with an average response on Friday, but it picked up well over the weekend. The heist dram has got excellent response in multiplexes when compared to its business in single screens. The movie has collected Rs 27 crores at the domestic Box Office in the (3 days) first weekend. Its breakup is Rs 7 cr on Fri, Rs 9 cr on Sat and Rs 11 cr on Sun.
Whereas ABCD - Anybody Can Dance, which graced 750 screens, started with a bang with its occupancy ranging between 55% and 70% on Friday. The movie got positive reviews from film critics and a good word of mouth took its business upwards over the weekend. Especially, the 3D version of the film was running houseful in the North India on Saturday and Sunday.
The India's first dance 3D movie has collected Rs 20 crores at the domestic Box Office in the (3 days) first weekend. Its breakup is Rs 5.5 cr on Fri, Rs 6.5 on Sat and Rs 8 cr on Sun. Trade experts opine that this is a very good collection for non-star cast film. Its per screen average is much bigger than that of Special 26.
However, Special 26 and ABCD - Anybody Can Dance are much-hyped and most-awaited movies, which had massive promotions prior their release. In addition, both the film received positive reviews from critics and film goers also gave them thumbs up, which helped them to do good business at the ticket windows over the weekend. It should be seen how they will perform on weekdays.
