{image-15-box-office-reports entertainment.oneindia.in}This week's new releases Aiyyaa, Bhoot Returns, Makkhi, Chittagong, Login and In The Name Of Tai have had a dismal start at the Box Office in India. Among them, Rani Mukherjee's Aiyyaa has a little better response and is the frontrunner in the race at the collection centres across the country on the first day of its release.

Aiyyaa starring Rani Mukherjee and Mollywood actor Prithviraj in leads, is one of the most-hyped big budget movies of 2012. This comeback film of Rani was expected to start with a bang. But it opened to a below average response with its occupancy ranging between 20% and 25%. It has collected Rs 2.75 crores nett at the domestic Box Office on the first day. If it has to recover its production cost, it has to show a big leap in its business on Saturday and Sunday.

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma's Bhoot Returns is a much-awaited horror movie. Since his previous film Department had bombed at the Box Office, this big-budget flick was expected to get him a big break, but it has registered a very poor occupancy, which was just 10% on its opening day. It has collected Rs 1.25 crore nett at the desi Box Office on the first day. It is expected to have a big jump in the following days.

Makkhi is the dubbed version of SS Rajamouli's Telugu movie Eega, which has become a Blockbuster at the Tollywood Box Office. It was expected to do the same magic in the Hindi too. But like Bhoot Returns, this movie has also registered just 10% occupancy and collected approximately Rs 54 lakhs at the Box Office on the first day. Trade experts feel that word of mouth will surely take its collection upwards in the coming days.

However, other new releases like Chittagong, Login and In The Name of Tai are medium budget movies, which lacked hype and promotions. They have registered the poorest opening and collected a negligible numbers at the Box Office on the first day. Trade analysts feel that by occupying some theatres, they have even affected the collection of Aiyyaa, Bhoot Returns and Makkhi.
