Raavan is one of the biggest setbacks at BO

The much-awaited Raavan has emerged one of the biggest setbacks in the key international markets. Besides a talked-about premiere in U.K. before its release, the film also won rave reviews from reputed American critics. But the tremendous hype and the lavish praises haven't translated into excellent figures. Given the extensive release in the international arena, the opening weekend business of Raavan is extremely disappointing in the three major markets - U.K., U.S.A. and Australia. Just look at the kind TV promos were there. They looked more dramatic than appealing. If a movie can not garner money during the opening weekend, then bad script is not the only reason. Bad promotions too added to woe. Of course, if the product itself is bad, no amount of promos will work. That is why it didnt even hold for other weeks.

Ravan is very bad scripted film ever from Mani. Mani should accept this. A brilliant film maker who gave good film like Roja has not matched our expectations. I would rate Guru as better film. Whether Tamil version is better, whether vikram is better, the film had no sense. Why should Mani select such a bad script and screenplay. Without a good script or screenplay, editing absolutely can have no sense. Can Mani edit such a bad movie at all. Let Mani answer.

Guys do not read too much into these reports, Rajneeti is supposed to be an hit and it collected around £155K in UK, Raavan alone collected around £122K and Raavanan around £66k, i.e. £188K, £33k more than Rajneeti, In US also Rajneeti released on 4 day weekend so the it collected higher but still the total of Ravan and raavanan should be almost same. Trade analyst say Ravan will overall collect around Rs50Cr and the next news say that in first weekend itself Raavan collected Rs53Cr, so what is...

I dont know wht has happened to todays critics and specially this movie reviewers.... but somehow most of the movies they claim to be low rated turns out to be actually good.... and Ravana turned out to be excelent... one may find it boring due to slow speed of the storyline in between... but overal the film rocks with nice dialogues, cinematography, and specially real cool acting of all the stars. I think movie is a must watch one timer... can afford to watch it twice.... but then cant...

Its Mani Ratnam's characterisation & Vikram's overaction caused Ravan's debacle. Abhishek has really done suttle & required acting for his Character. Hero killing the person who comes for peace and Villain leaving a person who threatens Villai.... What kind of Charectarisation is this? The confusion in characterisation caused it all. They just concentrated on locations & cinematography but nothing else....Maybe Abhishek's in capabality of overacting is not liked by the people.
