The general perception is, serious films don't work in the international markets. But both Rann and Ishqiya, which aren't 'Overseas-friendly' films, sprung a pleasant surprise. Given its serious genre, Rann did reasonably well in U.K. and U.S.A., while Ishqiya, which had a very small release in the U.S., has fared very well, looking at its screen average... Last week's VEER has crashed completely in U.K. and U.S.A. The combined total from these two markets, at the end of 10 days, is approx. Rs. 4.19 crores.
