Diwali releases fail overseas

This has come as a jolt for the film industry! The Diwali releases Blue, All The Best and Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna have under-performed in the key international markets. While Blue leads in the international markets also, Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna was the second choice, while All The Best was the third, going by the opening weekend numbers. As mentioned earlier, the opening weekend numbers are below-the-mark.

Weekend: October 16 - 18, 2009.

U.K. BOX-OFFICE
* Blue has debuted at No. 11 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected £ 2,15,962 [approx. Rs. 1.63 crores] on 51 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 4,235. Includes Thursday previews.

* Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna has debuted at No. 14 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected £ 89,299 [approx. Rs. 67.43 lacs] on 42 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 2,126.

* Aadhavan [Tamil film] has debuted at No. 16 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected £ 57,582 [approx. Rs. 43.48 lacs] on 11 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 5,235.

* All The Best has debuted at No. 21 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected £ 36,333 [approx. Rs. 27.44 lacs] on 31 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 1,172.

* Wake Up Sid [last weekend: No. 14, this weekend: No. 34]: In its third weekend, the film has collected £ 8,968 on 18 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 498. Total: £ 2,42,459 [approx. Rs. 1.83 crores].

* Peeranmai [Tamil film] has debuted at No. 44 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected £ 6,031 [approx. Rs. 4.55 lacs] on 7 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 862.

* Do Knot Disturb [last weekend: No. 20, this weekend: No. 59]: In its third weekend, the film has collected £ 2,478 on 3 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 826. Total: £ 1,66,720 [approx. Rs. 1.26 crores].

* Dil Bole Hadippa [last weekend: No. 26, this weekend: No. 61]: In its fifth weekend, the film has collected £ 1,636 on 2 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 818. Total: £ 5,27,511 [approx. Rs. 3.98 crores].

U.S.A. BOX-OFFICE

* Main Aurr Mrs. Khanna has debuted at No. 37 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected $ 1,21,134 [approx. Rs. 55.74 lacs] on 59 screens, with the per screen average working out to $ 2,053.

* All The Best has debuted at No. 42 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected $ 96,054 [approx. Rs. 44.20 lacs] on 55 screens, with the per screen average working out to $ 1,746.

* Wake Up Sid [last weekend: No. 32, this weekend: No. 60]: In its third weekend, the film has collected $ 25,192 on 33 screens, with the per screen average working out to $ 763. Total: $ 6,82,163 [approx. Rs. 3.14 crores].

* What's Your Raashee? [last weekend: No. 74, this weekend: No. 122]: In its fourth weekend, the film has collected $ 410 on 2 screens, with the per screen average working out to $ 205. Total: $ 2,57,868 [approx. Rs. 1.19 crores].

AUSTRALIA BOX-OFFICE

* Blue has debuted at No. 16 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected Aus. $ 98,508 [approx. Rs. 42.16 lacs] on 16 screens, with the per screen average working out to Aus. $ 6,157.
